The draft resolution establishes sanitary requirements for the admission to Chile of processed meat products from bovines, sheep, pigs and poultry, highlighting the following:
- Definitions of processed meat products are established, dividing them into four categories: fresh raw, ripened raw, acidified raw and cooked;
- General conditions are established for the four categories, including:
• The favorable evaluation of the health authority of the country of origin;
• The health certificate;
• The sanitary requirements for the animals from which the products come;
• The sanitary requirements for the raw material with which the products are made;
• The requirements of the establishments of origin;
• Specific conditions are established for the entry of products, according to product category, animal species and associated risk diseases;
• Sanitary requirements are established in relation to the sanitary situation of the countries of origin, or else, comply with the treatments described;
