| Summary |
The proposal amends the nomenclature of products that are currently classified as so-called dried fruits, to move to a more specific category: "tree nuts" this category includes groundnuts. The Code of Hygienic Practice for Tree Nuts (CAC/RCP 6-1972) and the Code of Hygienic Practice for Groundnuts (Peanuts) (CAC/RCP 22-1979) were taken into consideration. Nomenclature amendments are made under different articles and microbiological criteria are established, in the light of the provisions of Microorganisms in Foods 8, ICMSF. New microbiological criteria for tea (Camellia sinensis) and mate (Ilex brasiliensis and I. paraguariensis) and herbs for infusions are also proposed, in addition to the nomenclature amendments.
