The emergency phytosanitary measures for the importation of Solanum spp. and Capsicum spp. seeds, previously notified in G/SPS/N/TPKM/561 dated 9 February 2021, was amended on 6 May 2021 to mitigate the biosecurity risk posed by three viruses and six viroids: Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV), Tomato mottle mosaic virus (ToMMV), Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV), Columnea latent viroid (CLVd), Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd), Tomato apical stunt viroid (TASVd), Tomato chlorotic dwarf viroid (TCDVd), Tomato planta macho viroid (TPMVd) and Pepper chat fruit viroid (PCFVd).
The emergency measures to manage the related viruses and viroids on Solanum spp. and Capsicum spp. seeds are as follows:
The above-mentioned viruses and viroids are included as quarantine pests in the specific requirements for Solanum spp. and Capsicum spp. seeds. The importation of the seeds shall be accompanied by the phytosanitary certificate issued by the plant quarantine authority of the exporting country, stating that the seeds have been laboratory tested and found free from Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV), Tomato mottle mosaic virus (ToMMV), Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV), Columnea latent viroid (CLVd), Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd), Tomato apical stunt viroid (TASVd), Tomato chlorotic dwarf viroid (TCDVd), Tomato planta macho viroid (TPMVd) and Pepper chat fruit viroid (PCFVd) before export; otherwise, the seeds will be destroyed or reshipped.
The quarantine requirements of Tomato brown rugose fruit virus was adopted and notified in G/SPS/N/TPKM/560/Add.1.
