The proposal notified in G/SPS/N/DNK/6 (10 January 2022) is now amended by "Bekendtgørelse om COVID-19 hos pelsdyr".
The legislation concerns the lifting of the temporary ban of keeping mink in Denmark. Article 19 of the legislation regards the import of mink into Denmark and the following test requirements must be met upon arrival at final destination in Denmark:
"§ 19. The operator ensures that when importing fur animals to Denmark, oropharingeal swabs are collected from 60 animals upon arrival at the final destination in Denmark, and that the samples are submitted to the national reference laboratory or a laboratory officially appointed by the competent authority to carry out the analysis for SARS-CoV-2 (PCR test). (2). The operator ensures that a copy of the analytical results of the analyses mentioned in subsection 1 is forwarded directly by the laboratory to the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. (3). The operator ensures that the fur animals are kept in isolation from other fur animals at the final destination until a negative result of the tests is available."
The requirements mentioned in article 19 are the reason for the notification process under the SPS Agreement as it concerns trade/import-issues. The additional requirements in the legislation do not have any repercussions/relations regarding trade/import-issues.
"Bekendtgørelse on Covid -19 hos pelsdyr" is enclosed in its full length in Danish language.
The legislation entered into force on 5 January 2023. https://members.wto.org/crnattachments/2023/SPS/DNK/23_0428_00_x.pdf
