The UK Food Safety Authorities are notifying members of the intention to bring into force legislation that:
• Removes requirements for the periodic renewal of authorisations for food or feed produced from, consisting of, or containing, GMOs, feed additives and smoke flavourings; and
• Allows authorisations to come into effect following ministerial decisions in England, Wales and Scotland, and then be published in an official public register or list maintained by the FSA and FSS, rather than being prescribed by statutory instrument.
These changes apply to the food and feed regulated product regulatory regimes covering feed additives; food additives, enzymes and flavourings; food contact materials (FCMs); food or feed containing, consisting of or produced from GMOs; novel foods; and smoke flavourings.
The United Kingdom is signposting Members to the regulated products authorisation lists where the authorised feed additives, food additives, enzymes, flavourings, food contact materials, GMOs, novel foods and smoke flavourings accepted for use in Great Britain are contained. The lists can be found here: Regulated products authorisations lists.
Any lists/registers not currently available will be published prior to the entry in to force. Any relevant future authorisation decisions will be notified as required.
