This standard applies to Food additive Tomato Red, obtained by supercritical fluid (carbon dioxide) or solvents extraction, prepared with tomatoes (Lycopersicon) or its products used as raw materials. Only the following solvent may be used: n-hexane, ethyl acetate, solvent for vegetable oils extraction, acetone, ethanol. This standard modifies the scope, the method for testing the total lycopene, the method for testing residual solvents and the description of commercial products.
