The notified Regulation seeks to:
Establish the technical, administrative and legal provisions for protecting the country's agricultural health by means of measures to prevent the introduction, establishment and spread of pests and diseases of economic, quarantine and social significance which jeopardize human, animal and plant health in Honduras;
protect animals and plants, the products and by-products thereof and other regulated articles from pest and disease damage;
protect national territory from the introduction and/or spread of regulated diseases and pests of animals and plants and the products and by-products thereof;
ensure that sanitary and phytosanitary measures are useful, effective, safe, objective and impartial;
establish the sanitary and phytosanitary conditions required for the production of and international trade in Honduran agricultural goods; and
enable Honduras to fulfil its commitments under the international agreements to which it is party and ensure the consistency of national legislation with such agreements.
