The decision defines the principles, rules, procedures and measures for food and food additives to Lao PDR in order to ensure the quality standard, food safety and to protect public health for consumers.
The main contents of the announcement are as follows:
- Import of Food: All food businesses are required to provide relevant documents by submitting them to the Food and Drug Department or Food and Drug Authority in any province at least five working days prior to the actual importation;
- Transit of Food: Food businesses that transport food in transit through Lao PDR shall provide all required documents and submit them to the Food and Drug Department or Food and Drug Authority in any province at least five working days before transit.
