In 2021 a proposed cat and dog import health standard (IHS) consulted on changes to the proposed IHS since that consultation is outlined in the Review of Submissions under 'Other relevant documents' below. Responses to submissions made by competent authorities are not included in this Review of Submissions. NZ MPI will send out individual responses to each competent authority. This is the second consultation of this IHS. The proposed IHS was not implemented after the first consultation in 2021 because of concerns about fraudulence relating to the rabies and residency import requirements. During the period between consultations, the rabies and residency requirements were reviewed and further risk work on Brucella canis and Babesia spp. was completed.
