The purpose of this guide is to outline the procedures and trading practices followed by foreign food establishments exporting food products to the country. These procedures are implemented through the official regulatory authority responsible for food safety in the country of origin/export. The guide aims to achieve the following objectives:
- Ensure the safety and quality of food exported to the country;
- Guarantee that imported food is produced and handled under hygienic conditions in establishments that adhere to health, veterinary, and food safety standards;
- Facilitate the smooth flow of food exports to the country;
- Strengthen food control measures and identify potential food safety risks before products enter the country;
- Assess the compliance of foreign establishments with the requirements of regulatory authorities and applicable food safety standards;
- Streamline customs clearance procedures for imported food, supporting informed acceptance or rejection decisions by local authorities;
- Ensure imported food products comply with the provisions of Federal Law No. (10) of 2015 on food safety, as well as UAE specifications, technical regulations, and related legislation.
