Vietnam Sanitary and Phytosanitary Notification Authority and Enquiry Point

The Law introduces amendments to Ukraine's legislation aimed at aligning sanitary and veterinary measures with the European Union acquis in the fields of animal health, animal welfare, food and feed safety and official veterinary controls.

In particular, the Law provides for:

• improving measures to ensure animal health, including the modernization of financing mechanisms  for  veterinary  and  sanitary  measures  and  enhancement  of  epizootic surveillance and biosecurity systems;
• improving  state  veterinary  and  sanitary  control  (supervision)  over  the  production, registration, circulation and use of veterinary drugs;
• introduction of EU-aligned animal welfare standards, including requirements related to keeping, transport and humane slaughter of farm animals;
• regulation  of  feed  and  feed  additives  in  order  to  ensure  a  high  level  of  protection  of animal and human health;
• restrictions  on  the  use  of  antimicrobial  veterinary  drugs,  including  the  prohibition  of their  use  for  growth  promotion  and  routine  prophylactic  purposes,  in  line  with  EU approaches.

The  adopted  measures  aim  to  protect  human  and  animal  health,  prevent  the  spread  of animal diseases, ensure the safe circulation of products subject to sanitary and veterinary control,   and   facilitate   international   trade   through   alignment   with   EU   sanitary   and phytosanitary rules.
